Hi guys
Some b*stard clipped my car this morning and has scratched the bumper.
They haven't taken loads of paint off just left a few nasty scratches (possibly slightly below the surface of the paintwork).
I tried T-Cut this afternoon (which I dont find to be very good anyway) and it hasn't really done much at all.
Can anyone recommend a good scratch remover that will remove the scratches or at least blend them in a bit better.
Cheers

theres a product called Colour Majic-by turtle wax.
its literally like t-cut but it comes with a 'chip stick on it.
what this is, that its like a crayon/lipstock that you rub into the scratch in the opposite direction to the scratch. the colour of the 'chip stick would be the same shade as your car. so, what this does is that it fills the scratch up with a the 'crayon.
and then you can use the colour-majic/t-cut on it to cover the light scratches. remember, t-cut only covers light scratches.
if you've got a bumper scuff from the other car on your car, use a product called GD32 (i think this is the name of it) and is sold in your local halfords along with the colour majic chip stick, this is effective in getting bumper scuff's off your car.
hope this helps,

Or Maguires Scratch X - didn't do mine much good, but depends on the type and depth of scratches. £8.99 from nearly everywhere.
Think I'll try Skiddy2K's tip as mine was bumper to bumper scratches!

T Cut is normally very good at taking off light scratches. It will not deal with deeper ones. However, as its name implies it does cut in to the the thickness of the paint finish. On solid colours this is genearlly not too much of a problem. But on metallic and pearlescent finishes the top layer or two of the paint finish system is lacquer which protects the paint underneath. If you use regular/traditional T Cut (the one in the red bottle) it will remeove the lacquer and leave the paint underneath exposed. If you do have metallic or a pearlescent paint finish you should use the appropraite “cutting” agent. Indeed, T Cut make a specific product for metallic and pearlescent paints.
If the scratch is deep and you want to cut it out then an abarasive cutting paste is the best, but you really need to be careful as it will mess your paint finsih up if not used properly. It will then need stopping and painting, not really a job for the amateur.0 -
Get some Farecla G3 compound from possibly Halfords, but more likely a Motor Factors. Apply it with a WET cloth and rub gently with the wet cloth, then rinse with plenty of water. It is basically a more aggressive form of T cut used mainly when doing paintwork to cars. Then when happy, finish with your favourite polish.0

If it's a good car, I'm guessing it's not a banger, else you wouldn't be asking, have a chat with your local body repairers - not big insurance type place, but independent guy.
The £10 or so you'll spend on stuff from Haalfords, would be better given to him to do the job - & you'll have it removed as much as possible!!
If you do want to DIY, the tips in https://www.meguiars.co.uk are worth checking. Their products are first class, too.

I used this stuff on my car - works well on those scratches that you can see stabnd out, but when you run over them with a fingernail, is not deep at all. This is it: Cheesy photo I know.Money saving:
Buy a Skoda. Laugh at the VWs who paid several grand more
Its a diesel. 50mpg - laugh at all the petrols
Its a tuned 260bhp diesel - laugh at them in the rearview mirror as they vanish

nice one TDIfurby, thats exactly the product i meant earlier on, its gs27, not gd32 as i mentioned earlier, dont know where that came from!0

has anyone used a company called Chips-away. They quoted me £10 a panel (presumably +Vat).
Is this the sort of stuff they use as my black car has knicks all over and its probably worth me trying before parting with £100 or so!
:beer:I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far! :mad:0
