Hi all, Im thinking about getting a bridge camera but wanted some thoughts on the best rechargeable AA battery and charger to get the most out of my camera? There seems to be so much choice out there and ive not got a clue what to go for.
Any advice greatly received.
Thanks

With christmas coming (so any turned-out-to-be-errors-in-judgement can be swiftly redeployed) I'd go on a toot at 7dayshop...
Wiser heads with better stats will be along soon.0 -
I didn't get on with rechargeables, I buy lithium instead. They are expensive but you can shop around for the best deal and they last yonks.0

Check out Sanyo Eneloop XX0

Recommend you buy precharged/longlife/eneloop/goodtogo variety
I use vapextech new technology batteries in my fuji bridge camera & carry 2 spare sets with me

Also recommend using a charger which shows charge status for each battery, & don't use a superfast charger. Mine is an old one 7dayshop.0 -
Not the 'best' but the cheapest decent ones with a charger for the cost of a trip to the supermarket in petrol... like the eneloop ones, hold their charge for months, as said above get a couple of lithium as spares.

Sanyo Eneloop or Ansmann max e.
Vapextech, I will never purchase another of those batteries. Use once and destroy should be written across them because they fail so quickly and their capacity very quickly reduces. They are rubbish at holding a charge as well. It is false advertising to call them low self discharge IMO.0 -

That's interesting. I bought another 8 last month because I've been so impressed with vapex batteries. I'll be keeping a close eye on the new 8!!
I've never had a problem with vapextech but most of my batteries were bought a long time ago eg the 12 for my camera (4 in use and 2 sets of 4 as spares) are all over 2 years old and still as good as new with a very low self discharge. I prefer them to our Hybrio/eneloop batteries.
I remember seeing a long discussion (20+ pages?) about batteries on HUKD a year or so ago & vapextech was one of the best buys. But not any more?0 -
HUKD is where I saw them and I have posted to that thread many times.
My main use for AAA is in remotes and other low power devices. I have a couple that have never got close to their rated capacity from New, practically dead. They have never been used. Most others which now only store around 600 - 700mAh after initially storing close to 1000mAh. A few manage around 750mAh and one still gets over 800mAh. That is out of about 24 AAA's. Break in and refresh has been done on them many times with no improvement.
I have a few AA but they are hardly used and I don't bother checking them. AAA's are the important ones for me.0 -

Exactly what charger are you using? The type of charger is just as important as the batteries to get the best from them. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Thanks for the useful info. I've a few vapex AAA but most of mine are AA. Also the batteries are only used in high drain/high power items: motorised toys, radio controlled cars etc and my camera.
I don't know how they'd perform in low drain use.
