Are you sure they said that you CAN'T change the name? Or just that you can't change the name for NO CHARGE? Travel companies usually allow changes, but will charge an administration fee.
However this MAY be something from the US side of things, their Homeland Security rules may be causing a problem here.0 -
First of all thanks for your reply.
They are saying its in there policy that they cannot/will not change the name on any ticket....
''A Virgin Atlantic does not permit name changes on any ticket purchased''
Thanks again0 -
Ask how much it would cost to cancel and re-issue the ticket (I suspect they will say that is not allowed either). Will they offer any vouchers?
Play nice and you might catch someone in a good mood.0 -
You cant cancel and reissue that would be the same as a passenger change which you cannot do.

Its the same position for most scheduled airlines.
I would like to think you may get some help but my gut feeling is you will not.
The bottom line is that if the ticket is non refundable then all you can do is cancel and get the majority of the taxes fees and charges back less any admin fee.
Or the original passenger goes.0 -
Is this a Virgin Holidays package (which should allow a name change for a fee)
or a Virgin Atlantic flight (which does not allow a name change)0 -
If the reason for the person dropping out was medically related (to them or a relative), then Virgin are usually quite good with allowing ticketing changes.
If this isn't the case then you will still be entitled to a partial refund of the total price paid to cover the taxes and gov't enforced fees.0 -

They are now basically saying they will only refund the taxes which isnt much minus there admin fee!
Surely this is a major problem....0 -

It's a major problem for you!
Can you claim on travel insurance? Is it a travel insurance reason for the pull out? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

we need to know the answer, although by what you have posted it sounds like the latter and is the norm for full service scheduled airlines0
