I'm glad you were able to find out about them on your own and not have to rely on us for your help.Anyway, to answer your question:

No, wait, that would have been me in post 5. I'm glad I was able to help you, and appreciate you clicking on the "Thanks" button against that post.
...oh, no, you didn't do that, too busy spreading misinformation.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

mrsyardbroom wrote: »My main question is whether or not I could travel with my vehicle with the dogs in it.
Typically, you would travel in the recovery vehicle, the animals in your vehicle. What I wouldn't want is for my vehicle to be towed away and for me to be separated from it while the dogs are inside.
Depends on your cover.
If you have sufficient cover to take your vehicle home, then you might - depending on distance - have to switch recovery vehicles, but you'd travel all the way with your own vehicle, as DebsDD found.
If you have sufficient cover to provide you with a replacement vehicle for onward travel, then you'd obviously just move the animals with you.
If you go for the cheapest possible cover, where the vehicle is only taken to a local repairer, then that might be an issue. So you wouldn't choose that.
I very much doubt there would ever be a situation where a dozen dogs were taken to the garage with the vehicle against your protestations - if for no other reason than no mechanic in their right mind would go near the damn thing for fear of being eaten alive.
As ever, you choose the cover you buy according to your requirements, and in full awareness of how your requirements may affect the provision of cover. If you think your requirements are outside the ordinary, then it's your responsibility to check.
I'd want to see full Ts & Cs for that Showstart cover before showing them any money.0 -
Thank you to the people who found time to give a civil reply.
I'm sorry that some people on this forum found it necessary to be extremely rude and bullying and to have such a very poor attitude. It seems that this is the kind of aggression that exists in the world today.Don't mess with pensioners. :cool:0 -

Yes, I agree.
I meant to add in my earlier post that I have no experience of that company, nor do I know anything about them.
I just Googled "breakdown cover with dogs" and that one came back.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

<checks back> Nope, I haven't seen a single rude, un-civil reply or any very poor attitude in this entire thread.
Unless, of course, you include an ostrich-like refusal to consider relevant facts and acknowledge useful suggestions.0 -
It sounds rather like the ladies in question unfortunately did not have the right cover for their vehicle (there are fairly regular threads on here about people taking out cover and not realising it doesn't cover their van etc), didn't follow the normal police advice in regards to a break down on the motorway - get out of the vehicle and wait behind the barrier/well off to the side of the road (I remember that advice from when I was a nipper), and stayed with the vehicle
I don't blame the breakdown company at all for this - it sounds like they offered to take the women to a place of safety, but did not have room for 12 dogs (and depending on the size of the dogs, and their behaviour, it could be very unsafe to try and carry them in a normal vehicle*).
Even something like 3-4 Labrador sized dogs would probably be a major issue for most breakdown vehicles as they don't have the space, or restraints points for them (assuming the owners have got suitable car harnesses for all of them), and as a driver myself who sometimes takes dogs, I would refuse to have a dog (let alone half a dozen+) unrestrained in my vehicle - even a well behaved dog, if unrestrained is a large lump that can go flying in the event of an accident...
In the end the lesson to be learned from this sort of incident tends to be twofold.
1: Always make sure your breakdown cover/insurance etc is suitable for what you're doing.
2: If you break down, don't wait in the car on the side of the motorway - police cars and those huge highway maintenance vehicles** lit up like Christmas trees get hit, a normal car or van doesn't stand a chance.
*It would be interesting to know if they were "crated" in the camper van as is often the case when people take a lot of dogs around
**One of the reasons most roadworks on motorways/dual carriageways tend to have one of the big trucks with a huge lit up arrow pointing away from the roadworks (with the sign often seemingly very sturdily constructed for something that is just holding some lights) is because that big !!! truck is acting as a crash barrier as well as a warning sign and transport for tools/materials.0 -
Bullyingyour sensationalist comments will be exposed as exactly that!
UnhelpfulYou're also asking people on a forum which companies offer this service - would it not be better to ask the companies themselves?
BullyingI'm glad you were able to find out about them on your own and not have to rely on us for your help.
Bullying, sarcasm and downright rudenessNo, wait, that would have been me in post 5. I'm glad I was able to help you, and appreciate you clicking on the "Thanks" button against that post.

I won't be looking at this thread any more. You can go and bully someone else. I hope it makes you feel happy that you've sent an old lady away in tears. Just remember, that not everyone is as young or as quick as you. A little patience and kindness goes a long away. I just wanted to look after my dogs.Don't mess with pensioners. :cool:0 -

That's why I was patiently kind at 11:55 this morning in my reply which you didn't read, but instead you managed to put up replies after that complaining that no one had answered your question.
I don't get paid to help people out on here, nor do I know (or need to know) the age, gender, skin colour, religious persuasion, political or sexual orientation, ability/disabilty of each poster, instead I try to find out what the actual question is, what the reason for the question is, and then provide an answer.
I'm sorry if I appeared rude, but I provided an answer which was exactly what you wanted, while you ignored it - whether that was by accident on your part or not, I do not know. I do know that rather than saying "thank you" to me for giving you the answer, you have chosen to accuse me of being a bully and being rude. If that's how you treat people who try to be helpful to you, then I'll make sure to avoid helping you in future!1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0
