You can't change the locks on a rented property without providing a key to the landlord.

Yes you can, it would be pointless changing the lock then giving a key to the LL or LA now wouldn't it...
Spend a bit more time over on the renting board so you can advise with a bit more knowledge on the subject.

not what I was told by my letting agent, I advised I was changing locks on the day I moved in & they stated that as long as the original locks were put back in when I moved out there was no issue.

There is no way at all that I would ever let anyone, landlord or agent, have a key to my home.

It's the landlords property and he (and his agents) have a right to access as long as they give you appropriate notice before they enter the property.

You also don't have to be there if they give you the right notice period so they need a key.

Frankly if you don't want a third party to have access to your home then you shouldn't rent!

They have right to access when it is suitable for me & I have the right to chose when they come, they come when I am there, no other option for them.

And all the while I am paying my rent they have no right over my home beyond what I say they can have.

As for not renting, get over yourself. !

I am afraid it is you that is wrong, in fact all the advice you have given is incorrect and I would advise you stop as you appear to have very little grasp on the subject.

No they have the rights set out in your tenancy agreement. If you rent your house the rights will be documented in your tenancy agreement not in your own personal beliefs!

You should really buy. Renting is dead money ;)
