Help to Buy is nothing but an election ploy....

Ouch this is embarrassing! Cameron's photo opportunity for his help to buy scheme. Who does he choose as a buyer? It seems to be a typical single mum. Turns out to be a sales director of an estate agency under a different name!

With this HTB story:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2533994/PMs-right-buy-poster-girl-revealed-estate-agent-sold-flat-herself.html
I'm curious - is any form of check done on the person to see if they need to use the HTB scheme? Could for instance a millionaire use the scheme to buy their £600,000 house quite legitimately?0 -

seems like a fair enough use of state resources to me - guaranteeing loans taken out by estate agents who drive £33k cars.FACT.0 -

Ahh, has that one person made around 30-40 facebook accounts? All with their own set of friends, photos etc? That's some planning to pull the wool over peoples eyes ins't it. Well done joe, you come up trumps again!
Genius.
Can't be simply that people disgaree with the scheme, can it? I mean that is FAR too outrageous a claim!0 -

I see no reason why the 'rich' shouldn't/couldn't use it. Nothing was ever said about means testing it.
I can't see the point, however, in using it for a £600K house. The interest rate is far from attractive. I'd take £150K out of my savings (only earning 1.7% gross) and benefit from a much lower rate on the 75%.
But don't forget, there are lots of 'well off' people who earn very well, but don't have that sort of cash sitting around. Or if they do it's all invested (as maybe for younger people it should be).0 -

Prejudice about single mums does seem to be what is making this story news-worthy for people.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
More likely 'prejudice' against Estate agents, the Tories and their rotten policy. They only have themselves to blame!0
