Currently redoing our front garden. There is ivy all over the ground. Tried digging it out but its a mass of stems everywhere. Whats the best thing to do? (apart from move house!)

We're in the middle of getting rid of some too. We've cut it back as much as we can, shoved a load of ivy-killer over what's left and put black bin bags over the stems to stop it being washed away. I have no idea if it will work though!0

is the ivy killer any different to round up or equivalent?0

to be honest I don't remember what we used - it was the cheapest stuff in the garden centre that had 'kills ivy' on it! Sorry.0

Ivy has waxy leaves so roundup takes a bit longer to work. However, this is not the time of year for it.
I would pull out as much as you can by hand. When it starts to grow again in March treat it with roundup. Repeat 2-4 weeks later, and you should be pretty much there. I do this for a living and have had plenty experience with ivy!0 -
thanks glaswoden... will do that! Luckily where it is at its worst we will be putting pots rather than planting directly into the soil0
