    But the customer has to take reasonable steps to minimise loses.

    And its for the party who defaults (in this case the retailer) to prove that mitigation was possible and that the innocent party failed to do so (as my post above)

    Personally, I would ask for money for my petrol, if I had to make a special journey and it was a twenty minute drive or more. I've only done this once when I needed it for the same day, and they did pay me.
