  • Could he just be asking for a short walk before he goes to bed?

Years ago, my parent's poodle used to do this. Just a 5 min. walk to the corner, then she was content and slept all night.

What percentage of the food you are feeding is protein?

With a complete dry food, it's advised that Sighthounds like greyhounds, whippets, salukis and lurchers should be fed food that is 20% protein or under. Most complete foods you can get in supermarket or places like pets at home are around 23 to 26% which is way too much unless they are working and using up all the energy.

We had similar problems with our retired greyhound! he was very needy, pacey and vocal after eating, especially in the evenings, we used to say he had doggy ADHD!

His food was 20% protein, so we didn't think it was that, but we tried him on a senior food (he was 8) that was 15% protein and within a few days he was much more settled after food, and after a month, he was a different dog!

Might be worth trying it out?
