Can't get a UK account

A friend of mine (currently living and working in Germany) recently took out an IVA. She has since applied to a number of UK banks for a current account, without success. The reasons given vary from her being unable to provide a utility bill with a UK address, to NatWest refusing on the grounds that she's bankrupt! ( she's not). Can anyone offer any suggestions on which bank(s) maybe able to provide her with an account? Thank you in advance.

Has she tried applying for a basic bank account or a normal current account?
She may have to accept the fact that she cannot get a current account for a while but she should be able to open a basic bank account with any of the major banks.

Many banks treat an IVA the same as a bankruptcy, as they are effectively the same thing. An instant access savings account might be the best option for now, until the IVA is discharged.0
