Office Starter download - help please

I have a new Lenovo desktop, running Win 7 Pro 64 bit. This has a trial version of Office 2010, however someone recommended MS Office Starter. MS Starter sounds as though it will do everything I need. When I tried to install it I get an error message about it can't find q drive. Would anyone be able to advise me on this. Many Thanks.

Best advise is, unless you have a requirement for programming in MS Office, then download Open Office or Libre Office.

Whichever you choose set the default document type as Microsoft and the general user will not know the difference.

Agreed. I use Libre Office. It's free and does virtually everything that MS Office does. You may have problems with occasional Excel macros not functioning correctly but so far that isn't something I have encountered.

Also agree. I've put someone onto OpenOffice and have tried LibreOffice - both have been fine. Did have an issue with an Excel spreadsheet with some graph formatting not carrying across correctly, but that's the only thing I've come across for the average user.
The menu layout is different and some things do require a bit of figuring out to find, but pretty much everything is there.
I mainly carry on using Office because people ask me questions about it and it would be no good if I told them the LibreOffice way! :)
