hello and thanks for all the info
I recently made a claim for Mis-sold PPi and i have received a letter saying that the bank is prepared to uphold my complaint  but on the Declaration and Acceptance form it states " i wish to accept the banks goodwill offer "
Now its not the amount i'm disputing as i have no paperwork about my loans im just suspicious of why it says Goodwill Offer.
has anyone else had similar or is it just a standard term used by them

im just suspicious of why it says Goodwill Offer.
Typically the term goodwill is used on auto-payouts and where they have not found enough evidence to uphold your complaint but are paying out anyway. Maybe more borderline cases or where the amount of refund is not worth the risk of the complaint going to the FOS where the odds are unknown or they have holes in their documentation/audit trail which don't point to mis-sale but don't cover all the bases either.has anyone else had similar or is it just a standard term used by them
It's very common and quite normal to see.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
You can go to FOS if you do not like the offer.
However, if you do then the main reason for a goodwill offer - that they bank wants to avoid the cost and hassle of doing so - is gone. So if it thinks it has a valid defence it might as well dig its heels in. If FOS agrees then you get nothing.0 -
Thanks
I am more than happy with the offer was just uncertain about the wording and the fact there is no breakdown of amounts with regards to the 3 loans0
