Agent misinformation re rent

I signed for a flat at the weekend. Move in date of 6th July to be confirmed this week and credit checking to be done too. Signed all the paperwork which stated the rent, the deposit, the holding deposit, credit check fee, admin fee, and vat.

Today the agent called me to say he had made a mistake on the rent and infact it is £25 per month more than he told me.

Where do I stand legally on this? He admitted he had misinformed me but can I hold him to the agreed (and signed for) rent?

    Doubt it but you should be able to get your agency/credit check/holding fee back if you want to look elsewhere.

    You could also say that you will have to look elsewhere unless they drop the rent (because its out of your budget perhaps) but it's the Landlords decision and they will have to ask him/her. You'll have to find somewhere else or pay the original amount if they disagree to drop the price.

    The document you have signed isn't going to be your tenancy agreement, and is just the preliminary agreement with the Landlord to check over your details and hold the property.

    There taking the !!!!, you are completely within your rights to take the deposit back. Just in case they are difficult, do you have a copy of the original advert?

    If u signed it @ the original price u were given they should be bound to give u it @ that price!

    Again, he probably hasn't signed 'it' (the AST) because credit checks haven't returned.

    The final tenancy agreement is between the tenant and the landlord, and the landlord and this hasn't been done yet.
