OS Daily Sunday 24th November 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning all
Well there is nothing like a good nights sleep is there, not that hubby & I are getting any sleep.
No sniggering please, it's nothing like that.
Another bloody call out, I felt sorry for the poor security chap who was stuck on site with no way of getting into the building. He'd phoned hubby's boss who 'Could see no point in coming out' & so phoned hubby in desperation as he had other call out's to attend to.
We have a meal out today with all the family for my birthday, I'm looking forward to it & just hope I'm not too tired to enjoy it.
We spent y'day afternoon with one of the DGD's she made a Christmas decoration, we did some crochet, she helped hubby thin out the carrots, picked lettuce & leeks to take home and also visited the local shop to buy her a magazine & some sweets. Little things, but as she's had no contact with her real Grandparents it's important that we try to fill the gap.
I'm going back to bed to hopefully get some more sleep.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Xmas decs unpacked, am itching to put up, but always wait until 1 December at least.
Hugs to those that need them

Grey and miserable looking outside today, not at all bothered as all the washing is upto date plus I'm not planning to go anywhere , ds and myself are having an afternoon on the sofa watching a few chrismassy films to get us in the mood, I normally love Christmas but this year I really cannot get into it.
Cottage pie, and veg for dinner today, made using a 500g pack of mince I grabbed which was reduced to £1.49 ... If I bulk the mince out with veg and oats I'm hoping to get 2 pies, so I can freeze one for the following week.
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday xG.C July £21.09/£1000 -

Great news Hilly :T
Congrats to DD jools :T
Welcome newbies :hello:
Pop in lurkers and those MIA.
Out in the caravan, with a bit of nursing the battery has lasted out, with the help of the solar panel. New ones ordered, UKPost contacted me to say they had sent them to the wrong depot so could not deliver until Monday! then they delivered them!! Luckily we have great neighbours. Had a lovely meal out last night, at Lumb Farm, Denby, never had so much meat on a Roast Beef Dinner, broke the diet and had a Rocky Road Sundae.. Went to the Denby Pottery factory shop, and our new gates got fitted at home yesterday, definitely have to do the freezer and store cupboard challenge, so keep me at it.
Had a walk up the hill behind us as there is a public footpath with a 3 mile walk, but we just did part of it, breaking my leg back in gradually:D. Skye loved it loads of new smells.
LW Hope you are coping without fur baby to love.
HH tell DH to advise his boss that his rates for £25, for each out of hours phone call, and +£50 and overtime for any call outs. Either you will be quids in or they will sort it out. To be honest that is about the going rate.
Right better go and wake DH & Skye up.
Take care everyone. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club

Good morning everyone
GDD stayed over last night and we had a lovely evening looking at a new DK science project book we bought her for £1 at an attic sale and making an elephant scraper art, 20p at a car boot sale. It made me feel like I haven't been a total disgrace at OS!
Plans for today are bacon and black pudding muffins for brekkie, then a walk in the park. I am sure there will be a few cheap treats too.
Off to London to a conference at the crack of dawn tomorrow so need to get ready for that tonight and sort out some smart clothes and my bag, plus something to do for the train. I feel very posh because my new job have bought me 1st class tickets so I will even get something to eat and drink free of charge
Very well done to Jools DD on training course and promotion.
Julie - I hope everything goes well at hospital tomorrow. Please get someone to log on and tell us how you are.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning everyone
HH - sounds like someone is really taking the p**s - hope your hubby can get it sorted.
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Light cloud but quite bright, but looks rather grey in the distance, very wet underfoot, so has been raining during the night, it must have been chilly during the night as the heating kept kicking in.
DH still in bed - he's got a horrible tickly cough that now does seem to be easing - he fell asleep really early last night then woke up coughing so watched some tv, had some hot drinks and meds etc. He disturbed me, so I got up too. I had been to SM yesterday to get stocked up on meds, so from yesterday afternoon he'd been taking meds and it does sound now like its on its way out - hopefully at least! It's strange as he's not got a cold, sore throat, fever or anything else - although a week or so back he said he's ears where hurting him - and several people at work were saying that there's something going about that's giving people earaches/bad heads/coughs. I will be making sure he has a hot steamy bath when he does get up as it helps ease coughs.
Dinner last night was fajitas - they were delicious - I was going to do jacket potatoes with them but DH and DS1 didn't want them so I didn't bother for any of us. DS2 stayed at his friends for a takeaway and came home at 8 ish - he'd had a great time with his friend.
Was reasonably productive again yesterday - continued with washing, and drying, basket is now empty - bet it doesn't stay that way for long! I made 2 doz mince pies, and a bakewell tart. Lunch today will be roast pork, roasties, mash, veg, yorkshires and gravy. Went to visit my parents and the outlaws yesterday afternoon so we don't have to go out today - so will be chilled/lazy day pottering about at home - will spend some time on pc and also looking at new recipes/meal ideas.
Keep safe and well x

YAY hilstep :j
That's great news jools, well done DD :T
I had onions and garlic hanging outside, I bought them in yesterday and hung them in the kitchen. Don't them want them to freeze
I've crocheted lots of leaves, they look good I think. I even managed to make some holly leaves that resemble holly
There's a Christmas market in town, we'll have a wander up there later. It's quite close to my favourite town pub, so we might make a day of itSince the market has been on, traffic into town has been a nightmare and it's almost impossible to park, so we'll probably get on the bus. My gum is healing fast, I'm eating normal food already - which is great because I'm looking forward to hot mince pies later
