Like all things in life it's just a case of getting used to it.
I do it routinely now with mine. I had the engine engine and autobox out a while back and it's only held in by a couple of mounts lol. Still, it's never fallen out of the car when doing 70 down the motorway.
I used to be like you though LT, I'd find it scary just to put my hand under it, in the engine bay or my head in the wheel arch. Now it's a common occurence lol.
Trust in your tools is key though it must be said. It took me months to trust my 3T axle stands enough that I could crawl under the car and now I do it without a lot of thought. Granted I'm not so keen doing it on the side of the road though incase some prat smacks into the car..0
