Kobo E-reader advice

Hi all
Looking for some advice on a Kobo e-reader I brought approx December 2011.
I contacted Kobo a few weeks ago because the screen has frozen and the e-reader is not responding. After a few emails back and forth being asked to do a couple of resets, it still doesn't work.
The final email they sent me said as it's out of warranty and we have tried all the trouble shooting steps there is nothing else they can do. They don't have any repair shop that can look at it and can't suggest any third companies to fix it.
I'm not expecting a new one for free and I'm willing to pay any repair costs. I just can't believe that there is nothing else they can do! Surely it should be expected to last longer than just under 2 years??
Thanks

After the warranty expires, the manufacturer doesn't have to have anything to do with you, unless you bought it directly from them. Your rights are with the retailer you purchased the item from.0

Aren't kobo e readers really cheap at the moment? I've seen them for £29 I think at Argos. If I was you I would just buy a new one. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I always use the forums on http://www.mobileread.com/ if I need help with my Kobo. I found that the Kobo CS are useless if a simple reset doesn't work. The people at mobileread are very knowledgeable and helpful (much more than Kobo CS!) and if the problem is able to be fixed, they will talk you through it.
Here's a direct link to the Kobo board:

Thanks for the responses guys, just had a look and there £45 for a new one.
I'll give the other forum a try first.
