We are awaiting a mortgage offer from Abbey we have one in principle but are waiting for a proper mortgage offer. My question is when is the survey done. I am very stressed because Abbey are taking so long. Apparently it is with the underwriters who have asked for more information which they have received but told they still wont look at it till Friday, Ill cry if I lose the house because Abbey is so slow. Dont know what to do, and would feel alot better if I knew the survey had been completed
Never look back if you want to move forwards

When you made your offer did you ask the seller to take the house off the market? If you didn't then maybe you should do. Its no guarantee but gives you some peace of mind.
To applying for the full mortgage the getting your full offer letter can take a few weeks, depends on the mortgage company. It can also take a week or two for the survey to be done, again depends on the mortgage company. You should though recieve a copy of the survey soon after its done.
It's not worth the stress of worry though (save that for dealing with the solicitors :rotfl: ), you'll most likely be fine.0 -
Abbey won't do the survey until the mortgage is approved by the underwriters (saving you/them spending money on a survey for a loan that can't be approved anyway). Once they approve the mortgage they are very speedy. My survey was done within 24 hours of being approved, and the mortgage offer was in my hands the following morning.0

We found the Abbey really quick, we had our mortgage offer within 3 working days of the survey being done. We had the Homebuyers report the next day. So as soon as uwrs approve your loan it will move very quickly. I phoned the EA we are buying through to ask when the survey was arranged for, it gives you peace of mind and also a timescale.0
