My PPI claim to Coventry building society was rejected and I contacted financial Obudsman to resubmit my claim to them. The problem is that due to bad health problem I was unable to submit my claim to financial Obudsman within 6mnths of my claim being rejected by Cov Bldg Soc. Is it too late for me or can I still put the claim through explaining the reason for the delay. I strongly feel that due to good reasons I shouldn't have paid PPI premium all those years on my mortgage. Please can anyone help me with this problem

Only the FOS can answer this categorically, but they usually refuse to allow referrals past the initial six month period unless a very robust reason for not doing so is provided. You may have a chance if your ill health caused you to be hospitalised during those six months, but otherwise you face an uphill battle.0

You will need to provide evidence that you were too ill to complain to FOS throughout that period.
In addition, many Coventry Building Society products are sold by brokers, rather than in branch - so, from my standpoint, it is quite possible that it did not sell you PPI at all.
Even if it did, you still have to prove it was missold. That is not easy with PPI for a mortgage.0 -

The FOS has the power to overrule the time bar if it feels the justification for you not complaining for the whole period is strong enough. Not just the first 6 months after but the whole period after until now. e.g. if you are 2 years late then you would have to justify the whole 2 year period.I strongly feel that due to good reasons I shouldn't have paid PPI premium all those years on my mortgage.
Although most MPPI complaints result in failure and many of the reasons that work with loan and credit card PPI do not work with MPPI. Most MPPI complaints fail. You typically need stronger reasons to be successful with MPPI unless you get lucky with an autopayout. You were rejected so you didnt get lucky. What are your reasons for complaint? Was it sold by broker or lender?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
