getting a picture out of a word doc

I just realised I can use a screengrab which will save to a jpeg.
But I was going to ask if there was anyway of getting a picture out of a word doc and saving it as a jpeg, a sort of more direct approach than using a screen grab. ?
And I just realised my screengrabber is a firefox grabber and only works for internet pages.

hmmm,
I'm using Word 97 and I don't get the save picture option.
I only get copy/paste option.
I will try from a different computer that will have more up to date word version..

If you are using Windows 7, try this: -
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/products/features/snipping-tool
It's built-in, just set it up and you can draw an outline around the image you want, then save that, I recommend as a .jpg image ("jpeg"). Once you have it saved, you can edit it in Microsoft Draw.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

I use Windows snipping tool to save parts of the screen as a picture, as I find it quicker and easier than screengrab
Don't know if that would be any use to you.
Ignore this - too slow at typing.0 -
Copy it. Open Paint. Paste. Save as a jpg within Paint.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

It's become easier with later version of Word, I have Word 2010 on my own laptop and can do it easily, but Word 2007 on my work one and it's much more of a palaver - in fact, I now just stick the document on a USB drive, extract the picture in 2010 and put the drive back in the work computer.0

This works, but the quality of the paste is much inferior to the almost perfect quality of the original in word.0 -

Create a folder on your desktop.
Save as HTML into that folder which will create a subfolder and any pictures will be placed in there.
Use Paint or other editting tool as appropriate.0 -
The last two posts have done the trick, I can now edit them as I want them
Thank you to all.0
