Equita Bailiff letter arrived AFTER Bailiff.

My apologies as I posted on someone else's thread, unable to start my own. I think I must have been too stressed to read!

On Wednesday a bailiff left a notice at my home for a parking fine, that I totally deserved and had just missed and forgotten about, the fine (with his/her fees) was £328. Two days later I got a letter advising me to pay £125 or a Bailiff would come out.

The staff all had the same manner of being argumentative and rude, it felt like this was a tactic to avoid answering any questions. A manager was requested and they phoned my husband on his number and not me on mine, as requested. In order to get a refund I had to write in.

The third call I was informed that they can send a bailiff without a letter and the letter was courtesy. I'm at a loss really. Is it lawful or right for them to send a letter after the bailiff or just a tactic to ensure the biggest fines are paid?

Thanks

most bailiffs are. If its a council car park or street fine - pay it, otherwise go to pepipoo to fight it.
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring
  • OP needs to show if they rec'd all the correct paperwork, assuming council.

  • What;s the correct paperwork?

I definitely deserve the fine. I had two tickets (my kids school is in a CPZ and we have eager parking officers waiting to catch people) and thought I'd dealt with both but didn't.

It's the "FORMAL NOTICE" arriving two days after the Bailiff that I'm querying. It just seems very underhand. One of the rude chaps on the phone told me they don't need to notify me by law but could just take my car if they wanted.

    Ticket
    Notice to keeper
    Notice of rejection of appeal
    Charge certificate
    Notice of recovery
This is to see if they have followed the system correctly.
Its then the bailiffs get involved which is why I suggested bailiffadviceonline as she is the bee knees on bailiffs.
