Mobiles.co.uk want to turn my non cashback deal into a cashback deal, my rights?

Posted this in the mobile phone forum as well but thought I might have more luck over here.......


Ok gist of the problem is, I purchased an O2 deal through mobiles dot co dot uk for £27 a month (24 month min term). I got the confirmation of the contract through from O2 who have listed it as costing £32 a month.

Called O2 who said I had to call mobiles dot co dot uk to sort it out.

I did this and they are saying that I must pay O2 £32 a month and then they will send me a cheque every 6 months for £30 once I have sent them my bills.

I told them no way, I did not sign up for a cashback deal and this was not acceptable. They say it's the only solution. Spoke with a cS rep on the phone who kept stuttering and staying silent for long periods of time. I told him I was not happy and wanted to escalate my complaint, could I have the name of someone from the company I could complain to in writing and was told "no".

I then asked to speak to his manager and was told that they "probably wouldn't have time to speak to me" I told them to go try Anyway. I was then put on hold and cut off! No one has tried to call me back.

I sent a written complaint to carphone warehouse (who own the site) yesterday telling them that I want my tariff reduced to what was agreed, and is detailed in the paperwork I have from them. Today I received a cheque for £30 which I promptly returned to them with a cover note.

Does anyone know what my rights are here?

To be honest, I had no idea Mobiles.co.uk did anything BUT cashback deals. What was the deal you purchased?

As said... almost certainly a cashback deal.

As an aside, are you now going to go round all the other threads you have been spamming today and deleting your posts?
Particularly those that actually quote a spam post that has been removed.

Nothing worse than spam, is there?

Why was it almost certainly a cashback deal, because other people say it was? I have a £27 contract from mobiles.co.uk for the S4, and I pay £27 a month.

OP, what was the phone/ tariff etc and when did you take it out?

Edit: If you went for the 5C, there is still a £27 a month/ no cashback offering on their website.

but the plan above that does state

£27.00

so are you sure you chose the top offer .

It is not going to be the £28 deal when they want to send her a £30 refund every six months - making it £27 a month

so someone at mobiles/CPW messed up then as the £27 is clearly not a cashback deal, maybe the OP should email them a link to their own page.

i was looking for a Blackberry Z10 deal

Cheers guys got a response on the mobiles board eventually..... But just to confirm it definitely is not a cash back deal. I have a screenshot and hard documents that prove that.

The exact deal I got is not online anymore. (Unlimited texts and minutes, 1g data and a free 5C @ £27 a month)

Yup, I have an email from them admitting their mistake. Its how they make it right is the issue now.

I've told them there is no way I'm going through the hassle of a cash back deal because of ther error.
