Hi folks,
I have been using WinRAR for a while now to unpack compressed files, but now want to learn how to compress them, and have run into a few little niggles.
1 Basically what I want to do is compress a file or folder but keep all the compressed files or folders that I do in a particular names folder so as to organise it better.
2 I know that I can right click on a folder and choose "add to archive" but then I get the annoying name of that folder when I right click on anything with my mouse again, how can I stop that happening?
Thanks very much for any advice.

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to achieve. I suspect that clicking on the FILES tab when you add something to an archive and selecting File Paths - > Do Not Store Paths may be what you're looking for.0 -
Just to add my 2P's worth, do not expect vast amounts of space saving when compress jpg, mp3 and compressed video formats, as they are already in a compressed. In some cases the files may actually grow in size.
Be very weary of combination of long path.file names (256 characters - but can be shorter) when compressing and extracting. Often browser short cuts and favourites among others sometime fall foul of this0
