Alphaline car batteries ay good?

Hiya

I need a new car battery, I can get an Alphaline from Amazon for half the price of Halfords own brand, but are they any good?
Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day.
But give a man a fishing rod, and he'll sell it and buy alcohol.

I don't know about Alphaline, but whatever you do don't buy a battery from Halfords - all the ones they sell are seriously overpriced.

The last time I bought a car battery I used this company who quickly sent out exactly what I ordered:

Cheap unbranded battery sold by the battery megastore under their own label?

Could be the same as Halfords one. Not sure who make them.
But if the battery fails how much will it cost to post it back?

    I always buy batteries locally.

Used Alphaline, on both cars and Plant, have a couple of leisure batterys on trailer winches also, OK much of a muchness, I hear time and time again, "my first battery lasted years and now Im replacing them all the time", Its little to do with the build of the battery but more to do with the electrics deteriorating in time, ie alternator regulation, bad earths dry joints etc...

Only battery's IMHO worth paying a premium for are Optimas massive duty's, high cracking amps and can be run flat as many times as you wish, cost is around 6x the price tho.

Those online company's are pretty good and even 40KG batteries seam to get there next day.

I've used these guys twice http://www.tayna.co.uk/

Most recent was a Varta battery for my Vectra, basically a Bosch (Varta rebrand their batteries for Bosch), at less than half the price of the Bosch battery in Halfords.
