Missing Child Alert On Tv

First time I've ever seen it. Watching BBC1 and there was a child alert. A young boy in a red Astra with a man aged between 45 - 50, grey cropped hair and scruffy clothes.

I've never seen one of these before - did anyone else see it? Did it say what area they are looking in? It said Midlands Today Alert.

    Katie

It came up as news flashes along the bottom of the screen. I'm about 100 miles away in Nottinghamshire so I was surprised to get it. Excellent idea I thought.

It's a new scheme they are testing I believe. I heard about it on our local radio a few weeks ago.

They reckon it will be effective as people wont hear it very often and will spring into action quicker when they do. THere's a set phrase and they were saying if you hear it to keep alert. Supposedly would be broadcast on the radio and tv as soon as poss after a child goes missing.

There wasn't any noise, the programme that was on still carried on but the strips along the bottom of the screen flashed up several short messages, describing the child and the man and the car and a number to call.

Mmmm, wonder if it's the same thing then? The pc who was talking about it on the radio definitely said there would be a phrase - must have been distinctive cos I can't remember it though! redface.gif

It's west mercia constab. around here and I'm sure he said they were trying it out.

It seemed a good idea when I heard it.

Its been on the BBC local news; for some reason I get West Midlands upstairs in the bedroom. They believe the lad to be around 9 years old. Lets hope he gets the publicity that surrounds Missing Madeleine.

Keep your eyes peeled wherever you are in the country for a red Astra like car with a 9 year old boy in T-shirt and black shiny tracksuit bottoms, white lad with dark eyes and brown hair.

Driver is 45 - 50 with grey cropped hair and black scruffy clothes. I didn't get the phone number but just ring 999 if you suspect anything.

Just been on national news, strange no one has reported a child missing.

And let's hope this little boy gets a good investigation right from the beginning, unlike poor Madeleine McCann.
