3for2 rule change at hobbycraft?

Hi everyone, I have no idea where to post this but thought it might be of help to someone, so wanted to share.

I bought two lots of 3 for 2 wool at hobbycraft and instead of working out the best deal for me (like at Boots, when it lumps the more expensive stuff together) it gave me the two cheapest free. Eek.

The shop assistant was happy to do it again and said the rules had changed and it used to be like Boots. I don't shop there that much so no idea if this is accurate or not, but thought I would warn others if this is the case, to check you are getting the right ones free :)

I don't really understand what you're saying. Normally in 3 for 2 s the cheapest item is free even in Boots from what I recall.

I think the OP means that, for example, if you get 6 items for varying prices, the two cheapest are free, unlike at Boots where it's every third item:

    £10
    £10
    £10---Free
    £5
    £5
    £5---Free

^^At Hobbycraft, two of the £5 items would be the free ones.

Don't most places specify in the small print 'cheapest item free'? I always thought Boots did as well. Does that mean you have to make sure your most expensive item goes through 3rd?

Boots rank it and it's the third item,
So if you bought 6 items:

    20, 6, 18, 15, 10, 8

    They would order it

20, 18, 15 free, 10, 8, 6 free no matter which order it went through the till.

The answer would be to just buy in three's! Then you could go back and get the next 3 items.
  • a bit crafty if i do say so myself as most people who buy in there prob buy 6 9 or 12 items so unless u check your receipt hobycraft are increasing there profits quite considerably

    Surely it should be 6 8 20 free 10 15 18 free...

Most 3 for 2 ads specify that the cheapest item will be free. I've seen 2 Boots ads today in the Sunday papers 1 for no7 and 1 for Christmas gifts and both say cheapest item free in the small print. I guess the answer is to do separate transactions in lots of 3 and then you can arrange it as you wish.
