No longer able to receive emails on my phone - T-mobile and Samsung.

I have searched online but can't seem to find a solution to this, so hopefully someone out there can help.

I have a Samsung Sii Galaxy phone, which has worked for a year with no problems. A few days ago I noticed that my emails were not updating as normal. I tried refreshing and nothing happened. I then tried removing my account and setting it up again - I have done this before - but I keep getting the following error message; 'Set up could not finish - unable to connect to server'. I have double checked that I am imputing the correct information but it is still not working. I have tried getting through to T-Mobile, but had a long wait in the queue, only to be told to access the user manual on for the phone via their website and then follow the instructions for setting it up (in other words, no help at all). As far as I am aware, nothing has changed in the past few days, so can't understand why this is happening.

Has anyone faced this problem before and if so, how did you manage to fix it (assuming that you did)?

  • hi,
can you get your emails thru a computer, say? if not, your account may have been compromised, you should try to change your password.

If you can, perhaps try a different email client - K9-mail for example is good imho
    Friendly greeting!
  • Thank you for your reply. I can access my emails fine from my p.c. it's just getting them from my phone which is the problem. I will probably have to go into a T-Mobile shop and let them sort it out. Thanks anyway.

In settings try changing the smtp port to 587 - normally set to 25 but mobiles often dont work on this one and switching to 587 usually fixes this.
