Saw it on Mutual website for £99 .Supposed to save 15-25% electricity .All you do is plug it into a socket and it absorbs /lowers current used.Wondered what others thought?

Loads of posts on this and other similar devices.

They are crude power factor correction devices which in a domestic situation save nothing - silch!

Without going into electrical theory, power factor isn't a factor to be considered in domestic properties because our meters measure Watts(kWh) regardless of the power factor of the load.

In large commercial factories Power factor is important, but to correct this for an ever changing load requires a bit more than a box with a couple of capacitors!

Save your money and/or Google 'Power factor correction devices'
  • I hadn't realised that anyone was trying to flog these in the domestic market. I had been looking at a voltage optimiser as our voltage levels at home fluctuate a lot and we end up replacing lots of light bulbs, but even then the figures don't really stack up.

How they are allowed to advertise such claims is beyond me. I suppose their get-out is 'up to 30% savings' - that 'up to' covers 0.000001%.

Or if you lived in the wilds and had your own electrical generator and had an unusual electrical load they might save 0.1%.
