Darling boy gone to rainbow bridge

Had to have my lovely old boy cat (Omalley - 19yrs old) PTS yesterday. He'd been going downhill for about a week and vet said his kidneys were failing and starting to give him pain, even if she gave him something yesterday and did tests he only had a couple of weeks.
So I held him in my arms for a last cuddle and told him how much I loved him and not to be afraid between my tears. I feel so guilty that I did that to him and I can't stop crying.

This is him a few months ago

What a beautiful cat. You know you gave him the best end you could and the best life a cat could want.

    RIP Omalley.

OP you did the kindest thing any pet owner can do - put him out of his misery of pain.

I had to have my cat PTS in 2010 when he was only 2 years old and I felt awful, but I know it was the best thing I could have done for him.

Don't beat yourself up about it xx

You did the very best you could for him, spared him any more pain or suffering. He was lucky to have you. I hope your happy memories of him will be a comfort x.
  • He will have known you loved him and wanted what was best for him. It's only natural to beat yourself up as you feel so helpless but you honestly did what was best for him.

    RIP Omalley x

What a beautiful boy. Please try not to feel guilty about Omalley. You did the best for him because you loved him and I am sure you gave a lovely life. 19 is a good age too. I have lost 2 cats this year, one at 8 and one at 9 so I now how upset you are

  • Sorry to read of your loss . We've had two cats pts this year so can relate to how you feel . As well as the feeling of guilt , there's the feeling of loss and grief . Lola was pts just a few weeks ago and the week after we were on holiday . Dh mentioned her while we were in a restaurant . I was sitting there with tears streaming down my face hoping people would think I had cold ! If I have too much time to think I can easily cry over our past pets . I hope your happy memories soon make you feel a bit less sad . Xx
