Bt pay & call contract

hi could anyone help me with this problem ? I am with BT pay and call which is not compatable with broadband so have to use dial up . it's costing a fortune , i have till aug 07 left on my contract and thought it would be cheaper to pay the rental to bt and end my contract so can use broadband . However am informed by BT that if i break contract , BT will not offer me any othrt service ONLY pay and call again for 12 months . I am stuck unless any one know where i can get broadband without needing a BT land line ????
