Average cost of replacing double glazing

Hi there

My partner and I are looking at buying a new property and are going for a second viewing today. The windows are rather old and somewhat draughty and we feel they would need replacing.

I'm trying to get an idea of how much this would cost us on average. This is the property below - we wouldn't need the windows in the extension replaced but the res would need it.

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-28539537.html?backListLink=%2Fproperty-for-sale%2Fmap.html%3FlocationIdentifier%3DREGION%255E1073%26insId%3D1%26minPrice%3D180000%26maxPrice%3D190000%26displayPropertyType%3Dhouses%26oldDisplayPropertyType%3Dhouses%23_includeSSTC%3Don%26auction%3Dfalse%26displayPropertyType%3Dhouses%26locationIdentifier%3DREGION%255E1073%26maxPrice%3D190000%26minPrice%3D180000%26oldDisplayPropertyType%3Dhouses%26previousSearchLocation%3DPlymouth%26radius%3D0.0%26searchLocation%3DPlymouth%26searchType%3DSALE%26useLocationIdentifier%3Dfalse%26box%3D-4.20489%2C-4.08988%2C50.36583%2C50.41311%26popupPropertyId%3D28539537&fromMap=true

Replacement would include
2 x front bay windows (upstairs and downstairs)
1 x large window downstairs (bedroom4)
4 x large windows upstairs (box room, back bedroom, bathroom and landing window)

A ball park figure would be great but know it's difficult. I think we just want to factor it into our possible offer and mortgage application.

Thanks

  • budget £300 per unit, bigger units will be more but smaller less,

looking at the bay, it is 5 units each... which is unfortunate, as thats a lot of units!

15 units total so around £4.5k tops, less as 10 of them are pretty small bay units so I would guess £3.5-4.5k

You are well out on your "guestimate" have you factored in for heavy duty bay poles and jack legs to the bow windows due to both being well loaded from brickwork and pediment roof , toughened glass to all the windows you can see which the op has asked (i couldnt see bed 4) about .Just because the bow windows are made up of small frames doesnt mean they should still be under £300 per facet there is more work involved ie propping and fixing id say youd be looking at 3-3.5 k for the bows alone
if you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction
