what else do I need (vista)

Options
Hi all, I'm calling on all your vast ammounts of knowledge again! My cousin has just got a new laptop with vista home premium and has asked me to set up the internet for her. She took delivery today of a bt router and the broadband is all ready to go. I have just downloaded to disk avg free 7.5, is there anything else I will need to get her up and running? Thanks for any advice.

Spybot S&D? Adaware or any other tool that will do the job?

Thanks Paul, I wasn't really aware what was compatible with vista, I've never even seen vista running never mind tried to set anything up on it!

Vista comes with Windows Defender which is an antispyware tool built in. I suppose it all depends how paranoid you are.

Not paranoid to have more than Windows Defender. Had a vista pc since April and Windows LiveOnecare told me I had a trojan on board at one point and I cleaned that off. I subsequently ran a check with some other thing - cant remember which - and it found 49 infections - some those blessed cookies which seem to keep turning up, advertising stuff, starware, and visits to 2 Known Bad Sites (rated ashigh priority to get rid of). Wish they had told me just which those sites were - in case in all innocence I visit them again! I am wondering if there is a way to tell instantly when one enters a Known Bad Site. I got notified of the Trojan on an innocent-looking dental health site - but dont know if thats where I got it. There was another website I visited where a page came up advising me not to look at that site - but it wasnt phrased as "dont do for security reasons", it sounded more like a moral command - so I ignored it and went in (well I had just been reading stuff by Amnesty International re some governments try and warn people off sites they dont want them to read - and I thought this page might be something along those lines - considering which website it was - and, before anyone asks - no I dont mean a porno one!)
