Too late to claim ?

Hi all
I`m looking for some info regarding some old agreements i took out, for which i had to pay PPI. They were in the early nineties, when i took out two loans and a mortgage with the TSB. The problem is that i don`t have any agreement number details, so can`t get get any info from the bank regarding these agreements. What i do have however is the same bank account, which i took out in the mid eighties.
I`ve looked at some of the template letters on this site regarding information requests and both seem to require agreement numbers, which i don`t have.So can anyone tell me if there is a way of getting the info from my bank ? i`ve been given the run around when speaking to them and so wondered if there is a letter i could send with which they would have to comply ?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Alex

  • With no data you have no basis for a complaint.

Bizarrely, with the new hiving off of TSB, you would complain to Lloyds.

This is because when they merged the liabilities of the "old" TSB went to Lloyds TSB but the "new" TSB took none of the liabilities with it.

A bit of a result for them!

you send a SAR and £10 to see what's left. If there is nothing left, your complaints are over. Give them as much info as you can,. dates of loans, past addresses etc.

One thing to remember is that you kept no paperwork, so it's entirely possible given the age of the accounts you want to complain about, that they have destroyed the records. So they aren't giving you the run around, they're doing what they are supposed to do.

When it comes to mortgages, it doesnt matter anyway. One of the reasons most MPPI complaints fail is that the majority of MPPI is monthly premium standalone cover and not built into the debt. So, it wouldnt appear on any agreements.

Over the last month I have received over £10.000 from Barclays for successful ppi claim, for loans dating back to the early 1990's for which I had no details. I just remembered taking them out. I phoned Barclays PPI advice line and they said they would do the search and they informed me what the account numbers were. Even if your loan details are not held on the banks computers, they bank will check their archives, which what they did in my case.
