Help! I have a problem with my dishwasher door, it wont shut. Its a De Dietrich slimline built in dishwasher, the problem seems to be with the plastic catch on the door which holds the door closed. When you clasp the handle to try and open the door, the plastic catch thingie doesnt move. I have unscrewed the inside of the door to have a look at it, and all the mechanism still seems to be there but I cant fathom out how to mend it - if at all??
Is it knackered or fixable?
Can anyone help?
Thank

Hi Blade,
I'll need a model number and, very likely the serial number/production code to track the down lock for you. But once I see what machine it is I may be able to offer pointers.
Fair warning though, De Dietrich (actually now owned by Fagor) do not do cheap parts and regularly appears in our rogues list for overpriced parts.

Boo hiss, might of guessed it would be a dear job!
Anyway heres the info from the sticker on the side of the dishwasher door:
Model: VM7451E1
Product Number: 911792003
Serial Number: 03590039
Type: 911 N72-26
Is the above of any help K Watt?
Thanks in advance

Hi Rachel,
Sorry but that may well be obsolete.
The part found was 32X0372 but there's no stock anywhere, including in France. Some of the documentation is also NLA which rings immediate alarm bells with DD.
You can try mailing Dave on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk as he's the real spares whizz kid, but I don't think that you'll get one I'm afraid.
The last price we have on it was about the £40 mark.
Sorry, can't help you much more than that.

Hi K
Well I emptied the dishwasher to wash everything by hand this morning and lo and behold the door closed perfectly
What do you mean by NLA and alarm bells ringing - should I be worried??
Like alot of things installed by the previous owners of our house, things keep biting us on the backside.

No Longer Available ... suggesting that it would not have been possible to repair, as spare parts could not be had.
I don't think it means "Now Live and Alight"

Opps, sorry. Yes NLA = No Longer Available.
Brandt/Fagor/De Dietrich are torture for this, parts and documentation goes NLA often after only eight years from purchase, sometimes less. I've seen parts NLA for them at 18 months, which is illegal I think.
Mind you, they've been bought over so many times it's unreal.
