No claims question

Hi,

I wondered if someone could give me some advice please. I had 4 years no claims and bumped my car and had to claim. Does that mean I lose all no claims or do I just loose 1 years no claims please?

Depends on your policy, was it protected?

Assuming its unprotected then you'd not gain a year and lose 2 so would go down to 2 years from 4 years

If it is protected then most often you will simply not gain another year so you'd stay on 4 years

There isnt an industry standard however and so each insurer can create their own rules.

not 100% true, if the outlay is recovered in full then the discount is maintained despite the fact there was a gross claim

Of cause you dont have to be to blame for it to impact your NCD

if the other driver was to blame then the OP would be claiming off their insurance, and keeping their NCD intact.
