After ever-worsening issues with internet explorer I finally did what everyone advised & started using Firefox.

And started getting 'out of date version of Flash, please update 'messages. So I downloaded latest version.

Now I get " cannot load flash plug-in: do you want to continue?" and the windows all freeze.

Back to Explorer.....???

    Hi G_M, not often we see you this far down the forum :).

    So what versions do you currently have? I use Firefox and have just tested my Flash player and it was fine (although Avast did report an out of date issue today which I haven't yet done anything about). My versions are:

    Firefox 25.0.1
    Flash Player 11 Active X 11.9.900.117
    Flash Player 11 Plugin 11.9.900.117

    I should have also asked about your OS, mine is Windows 7 Home Premium SP1.

    Yes, ocassionally I wonder off my usual hunting ground agrinnall

    Now..

    * Firefox 25.0.1 (easy)

    But both
    * FlashPlayer 11 Active X
    * Flash Player 11 Plugin
    cannot find! They appear in Control Panels/programs/uninstall (so must be there... somewhere) but doing a 'search' turns up nothing. They also don't appear on 'All programmes'.

    Additionally, if I use Explorer, flash (usually) works.

    Windows 7 Home Premium

    In Firefox, Tools/Add-ons/ Plugins.

    Mine shows 11.9.900.152. It updated earlier this week.

    At top in blue 'Check to see if your plugins are up to date'

    ps Firefox 26 here
    Move along, nothing to see.

    It might be worth trying this uninstaller for Flash, then restarting the browser and trying to install it again:

    There's a program called Secunia PSI that might be of interest. It scans your PC for out-of-date software, and (in the case of Flash, at least) gives you a link to download the latest version.
