I want a damson tree. Not too big but I want it to fruit next year. One that can grow in a large pot would be good even.

Looking on line most places dont tell you the age of the tree you would be buying and now Im seeing the term 'root wrap' and '9L pot'.

I assume 9l pot means the pot it comes in. But how do I know how old and big the tree will be when I buy it. I dont want to buy a twig.

At this time of year, dormant trees are lifted from the ground and sold as 'bare root', I guess your seller means supply bare root wrapped in hessian etc.

9L pot I reckon you'd be looking at 3yo damson, so you may get a light crop next year.

I have bought cheap tree's from LIDL etc £4 or £5 and they do not compare in any way to the garden centre tree that we paid £40 for.

Garden centre tree produced some fruit the 1st year i planted them. The following year was a good crop.
This year was good for apples but poor for pears. I did prune them quite hard though and probably a bit too late.. Starting to bud..

I've been to the garden centre and bought a Katy apple and a damson.

What would be the best size pot for them and are the large plastic tubs, say 42l on amazon ok please.
