miss sold car insurance

my car insurance renewal was due in september, we were also moving house. I rang kwikfit for a new quote and she quoted me £171.22. I took out the policy because I thought that wasn't a bad price for a clapped out ford ka. I never asked for any add on covers or protections as i knew the car was not going to last out until xmas.
Having sold my car for scrap today I rang kwikfit to cancel my policy, she then informed me i would have to pay £172 to them for the remainder of the policy. when i said that was more than my policy was for she then informed me of the extra legal expenses, excess protection, personal accident cover and direct debit charge which alone was £93.85. I explained again that i didnt ask for any of this.
I need help and advice as i'm so upset about this. Kwikfit just don't seem bothered:(
