virgin sim only contract rejection

i'm 25 and i have a pretty fair credit rating slowing been building it up over the last couple of years . so my 02 phone contract was coming to an end and i decided since im happy with my iphone 4s phone that i would just get a sim only contract and the best one i've come across was from virgin £15 a month unlimited data , txts and calls but when i went into the shop to get the sim for some reason the credit check company (equifax ) that they use couldn't match up my date of birth with the other information that i provided so i opened an account on their website and anything matches up so i don't understand what's wrong , is there anything i can do to sort it out. someone said i could ask for a manual credit check but i don't know what one of them is and also what i would need for one .

If you could access your data but they couldn't sounds more like Virgin miskeyed something.
