New laptop i3 - which version?

Even after a recent clean install my Dell D630 laptop Intel Core2Duo CPU T7100 @1.8GHz 4GB RAM Intel 965 Express Chipset 500GB 5400rpm is a bit slow and HD video playback is often choppy due to high CPU usage.
So looking for new laptop that will perform with a budget of £300-400.
What versions of the i3 are best for performance and battery life?
What are the best integrated graphics?
