Epson SX438W paper feed problem?

Was working fine 3 days ago.
Now it goes through the paper loading process but doesn't engage the paper feed.
I can see the roller moving and the paper catchers move back and forth but it 'appears' that the paper stock isn't moved far enough forward to reach the feeding mechanism.
Tried a number of restarts, also with a thick wad of paper and just a few sheets. No change...
Any Epson experts reading? Or has anyone had the same problem and know a fix?
