PS: I do appreciate your frustration that your parents have missed out. Many benefits are not well publicised and often difficult to obtain. One could be forgiven for thinking this is a deliberate ploy to discourage applicants and may be an integral part of Ian Duncan Smith's plan to reduce government spending on benefits.
Hey, that is an understatement. I saw some figures a while back that the government put out relating to this subject. Every year there are £billions that are not claimed. This goes across the whole spectrum - Housing Allowance, Council Tax Support, IS, ESA, DLA, Pension Credit, AA to name but a few. Generally every 3 months the unclaimed money is handed back to Osbourne for him to use on other things. The government have a damn good idea who all of these claimants are, but they refuse to tell them to claim or make, refuse to advertise the fact etc. Years ago they used to advertise Pension Credit for the elderly all over the place for example, now you won't see it mentioned anywhere. Yes I too think that this is intentional and a way of spinning it that the government have budgeted the same money twice.
It's always the elderly, sick and disabled that this situation targets. The young, unemployed and healthy are more likely to make a claim.

The rich get richer, whilst the poor ....... go to food banks.

It will be no surprise to you that benefits, pensions and the minimum wage et al have not kept pace with inflation. It may surprise you to know what the minimum state pension and minimum wage would be if they had kept pace with salary increases paid to bankers and CEOs.

It is convenient for the Westminster blood suckers to blame benefit cheats whilst awarding themselves huge pay rise and pension benefits.

You get the chance to rectify all this next May, you do not have to vote for one of the four major national parties.

Hey, that's what the people of this country said when Blair got in - 'never again, no more of this Tory rubbish'. They voted Labour into power, not once but twice. Then when the people had had enough of Blair, Brown & Co., they couldn't wait to get rid of the Labour Party. Most sat on the fence wondering which way to jump so we ended up with a mismatch of Tories once again and the Libdems helping out. Now that the people will have a chance next May to oust that weird partnership, what will happen? Maybe a Tory/UKIP/Labour mixed in with the Scottish National Party coalition? Heaven help us all! I stopped voting when they did the dirty on Margaret Thatcher. Since then I've gone with the flow as no party or individual is actually worth voting for. They are all corrupt in one way or another.

If I were going to vote I wouldn't vote for a politician.

"2.Your parents may qualify as "automatically considered", i.e. they are eligible. However they MUST apply. How else would EDF know your parents are eligible?"
I've actually been to both suppliers' and the Gov.uk website and it states that if you are in receipt of pension credit it is automatically paid as they are informed by the benefits dept.
I suppose my parents have fallen through the net somehow and I'm going to have to phone someone - that'll probably be a rewarding experience -not!

That is if you get the guaranteed part of pension credit, if you only get savings pension credit you need to claim.
