Letter Inviting me to vote on how identity protection policy was sold

I have made 2 PPI claims, one which has been paid out the other is still with the ombudsman after 18 months. Yesterday I received a letter from a company called CPP advising me I had been "invited to vote on how we review the way your card and/or identity protection policy was sold." There is a huge wedge of paperwork with it including a 44 page booklet, voting form and invitation to a meeting in london in January. Can anyone enlighten me as to what it is for and why I have received it? Most of the information is very confusing and unclear

I've had this as well, I can't even remember who I had it with.0

I had this too. You should have received another letter 2-3 months ago, which explains that at some point you may have been misold identity protection insurance. Basically if you had agreed to it, it was a payment to protect all your cards in case your identity was stolen, and to refund any money taken from your cards. Now this is this bit (if I understand correctly) is this issue, as part of the t&cs of the CC would cover you for fraudulent transactions anyway, so essentially you were paying twice. Plus, there was hard sell involved as often you had to call a number on the front of the card to activate it, and then that's when they got you... I definitely had it on a Morgan Stanley card, it was about £35 a year I think.0

Martin Lewis has written an article about this somewhere on the site. Can't find the link at the moment.0

My hubby received this too and can't remember ever having had such a policy. At first we thought it was a scam letter, but after Googling and reading Martin and others' articles, he'll just vote 'Yes' as he might get something out of it, and so might lots of other people!
The whole thing going through is dependent on a certain percentage of people voting though, so it probably won't happen as I bet lots of people like him have just binned the letter as junk mail.

I was persuaded by scare tactics to take out this insurance for myself and my wife. It was Morgan Stanley at the time which is now down to Barclaycard. I have been trying to claim compensation since last year and have written to Barclaycard several times with letters back saying they are looking into it.
I have just received all this paperwork from CPP and what I want to know is, if by signing to agree to return of premiums, am I signing away my rights to compensation?0 -
I also received this correspondence. I'd just be happy with getting my premiums back.0

I got the booklet as well.
I've read Martins article and will be voting Yes.
However, it looks to me that CPP are making this as confusing as possible, because I'm a bank cashier who has made 3 claims for PPI and even I can't make a lot of sense of the letter. It's a clear mis-selling issue, so just give us our money back!Used to work for the Halifax; now works for another bank. Any comments are my opinion or suggestion, not a recommendation!0 -
I've already voted yes. I certainly felt that with at least 1 CPP payment & 2 ID protection payments I was bullied/scared into it and fortunately was prepared when the next lot came to just say no. By then I had found this site & realised just how much was covered without paying any extra. I still feel like I was conned & it is not a feeling I am happy with. Hopefully most will vote yes & they will proceed!
ETA Your account number with them should be on the letter. It seems to depend on whether they were through the same provider or not, whether you got 1 (combined CPP & ID) or 2 letters (one for each)0
