My electric bill for last winter time December, January, February was £140 for the quarter, it says on there I used 951 units
Is that all???....It's not worth it...Keep using electric. Gas will cost about £50 per month every month of the year....plus your electric bill.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

I think if i were to look for a new house one of the priorities on the 'must have' list would be Central Heating. Despite the price rises most people still prefer gas.
So even if you were to move in 3/4 yrs i think it's worth it. More prospective buyers will want it.
I think the best approach is to look at GCH where it is appropriate.

This is a money saving forum, and there are a few instances where GCH would not really be economical.

The 'must have' for me on a new house would be tip top insulation and a good efficiency rating. That's a much better idea than throwing heat at a colander.

;) Something that hasn't been asked or mentioned is, is it your own flat, and do you have the right to do what you are suggesting :)

Yes, I own the flat (well not the actual building, it is a leasehold flat)

I have looked in the lease and all it says is your not allowed wooden/laminate flooring, nothing about what heating you have to have
