I am after some of this, need 17 m2 in total , cheapest so far is B&Q at about £10 m2 for tileloc.
Has anyone used this ?
Would love to find cheaper but have drawn a blank so far

  • Can't help with the supply I am afraid, but can point you in the right direction for fitting instructions-

    laminate floor fitting

A friend of mine fitted the tile effect and when they expanded and contracted due to the heat the lines in the tiles no longer aligned correctly, not sure if he fitted it incorectly or not?

I bought some tile effect laminate in granite, forgot the name but its from Makro £17.98 a pack on special offer its good stuff!
  • We got ours from B&Q but can't remember how much we paid for it. Have used it in kitchen and bathroom. Looks really good when it is laid and is very hardwearing. Hope this helps :rotfl:

for such a big area remember that cheap isn't always best. We used Quickstep Quadra tiles a few motsh back, a bit over £10m2 but we felt they were better quality than the Tileloc as we used that in a previous house and weren't so happy with it

Quite agree with above post...Cheap laminate is not always cheap in long run! Better to go for Quickstep, although floors2go do their own tile effect which is similar to B&Q. Good thing about quickstep is that they are individual tiles and it looks nicer IMo to offset each row to make a chequerboard........others are usually 3 in a row and dont always look right if same effect tried.

Yes totally agree about cheap laminate, I had ikea laminate in rented accom which lifted pretty easy & now have quick step in conservatory which so far has been brill.

Getting Quadra quick step for bathrooms soon :)

I have looked at quadra and everyone seems to sell at 13.95 m2 +vat so assume that is a non discoutable price? My budget is around the 200 mark, quadra takes it to nearly 300 unless I can find a cheaper source.
I know cheaper is not always better , the B+Q stuff seems to be quite good quality, at £10 a m2 I don't consider it to be that cheap, just cheaper than the brand name stuff.
I like the look of the floors to go site, same sort of money as B+Q so any opinions gladly recd!
I have fitted laminate in the last 2 houses i had, just not in a kitchen or in such a large room before.

Quickstep is around that....you can try and be cheeky at floors2go and say you can get it cheaper and could they match.....sometimes it works :)

I realise that at 10 per sq m its not 'cheap' so forgive the comment although for that extra £4 per sq m, the spend is worth it as Quickstep is fantastic......once fitted you will stick to it I'm sure! If you do plump for it, make sure you get underlay called excel gold or boardwalk.you wont regret that either.
  • Quickstep is the best, if budget doesn't stretch then go for the b & q, i am a fitter and it is very very durable and has a great click system , don't touch homebase or ikea, nightmare

I have the B and Q dark grey tiles in my bathroom, and i am really pleased with it. I have Karndean in the kitchen and it actually looks better than that. It hasn't scratched or marked at all and looks expensive (well I think it does...) The only fault is that as it is so dark it shows the water mark but is easy enough to clean.
