Only you will know the truth.
But with it being so long ago, perhaps Barclays no longer have the records of your closed account.
Do you have any evidence to support your claim?
Remember, not only will you need evidence of having paid PPI, but also that it was originally mis-sold to you.
There's nothing wrong with charging for PPI, it was the mis-selling of PPI to some people that was wrong (and so possible grounds for recovery if mis-sold)0 -
Its nearly 10 years ago. They are not legally obliged to keep records from that long ago.
You have to have provable evidence that it was miss sold, spoken word isn't evidence, anyone can say that.
And just finding the credit card number wont help, It only proves you had a credit card.
If they have no records, and you don't, end of the line....make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

It still on my credit report as it close in 2010 according to that.. i was mis-sold as i complain 2 months after i took cc out.. having to prove it might be a problem. But i had PPI when wasnt toild or didnt asked for it... All says on cedit report is last four digit number and when it was closed.... oh well is there nothing i can do then so be it just thought i grab some money back if i could..0

Whats on your credit report?
That you originally complained after having paid the initial 2 months PPI payments? That would have been almost 10 years ago. What was the outcome of that complaint?
Why did you continue paying it for the next 46 months if you were not happy about it after 2 months?
Why have you now waited almost a decade before following up on the response to the complaint if you were not happy with it?
I think you've probably missed the FOS deadline now. I'm sure you can't go to them 10 years after you've had a final response from the financial institution about a complaint you made.
Perhaps it might be best to just put it all behind you now, eh?

They said it was part of the terms and condition. ( remember this as i was angry at the time of 17 quid taken every month).. they couldnt get rid it, apprently i would void the contract, wife was also trying to argue about her card they said same thing... why i didnt close it was because lost job 3 week after and use the CC to live off for 5 months (yes i know stupid) then struggle to pay back ended up paying back in installments. Happy to just not bother was just saying if it was possible ... i did actually phoned them up when paid last installment and i ask if they could waive the PPI charge for that month and they said no... because of terms and condtion to have the card is to have PPI....0 -
Well, if you had actually read the terms and conditions you wouldn't have found it. ............
If you lost your job, did you check to see if the ppi covered job loss and try to claim on it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

And what evidence do you have of this?
As you have already been advised:...
You have to have provable evidence that it was miss sold, spoken word isn't evidence, anyone can say that...
I guess you didn't record (or obtain a recording) and retain those of the conversations did you?
Did you ask them to put details of the conversation in writing to you for your records and full understanding? If not, did you write to the credit card company yourself at the time confirming the conversation as you understood it?
Do you have a copy of the terms and conditions to which you were referred?0 -
I am afraid the OP is being given a bit of a hard time but the message I am going to give is the same.
To win a complaint the evidence must indicate that it is more likely than not - and not merely equally likely - that their assertion (that they were sold PPI) is true.
Generally banks will look to see what evidence they hold but, understandably, do not throw a lot of resource at investigating whether somebody with no evidence of their own is entitled to make a complaint against them - so they are not going to ordinarily use staff with many years' experience and knowledge of their company because the cost of those staff will be relatively high.
So they will have a look but not for something which might be found by some long in the tooth employee remembering something that might be there.
You might think they should but if they do then the cost of that has to be passed on to other customers. That means there is a conflict of interest between you and those other customers - which the FCA requires them to balance fairly. (Principle 8 if you're interested).
So they are not lying - but if the complainant has no evidence and after a reasonable search the bank can find none, it is reasonably entitled to conclude that it does not exist.0
