Speculative phone calls

  • Add to that you can be called (now what was it someone called me on this very board, ah yes) a 'stalker' down to having harassment finger pointing, not to mention clog someone's business lines and that was for a potential job so was gutted to have the phone hung up!

I've had success with emails on spec, at least you've some way to prove it to unless you can record a phone convo

I would definitely make some point of saying 'are you ok to speak' and don't get disheartened if the phone gets put down.....

Only time most recent when I lost my inhibitions was a cold call to check on the outcome of an interview (on the back of a desperate situation) even then the interviewer would not take my call, though I later received email offering the job, wonder if it would have been offered if I hadn't made that call...? so just goes to show, but I still think emailing is far more appropriate
