too unsafe to uplift?

Hi,Hope it's the right forum for my Q:
a sofa bed we have about 1 year just broke. We grudge the thought of getting a new one ,but there's an even bigger challenge now, as we are told the broken frame is not safe to uplift :( as the chipwood (or perhaps cheap wood?) board supporting the springs snapped, so basically stuck with it.
Is there anything we could do?
not too sure whether contents insurance are going to be helpful here..

Hi, the council say so. I wish we had a van & could take it to the tip, as it's probably not that bad. but we can't even drive..

You can tell the suppliers you don't care if they chop it up first or not as long as they replace it free of charge.
  • How badly damaged is it?

if it's just wood / chipboard that's broken, can't you just spend a fiver at B&Q and repair it?

I was assuming it was a new one, which was why I said to tell the suppliers, but I guess you mean you had it second-hand. In that case, just break it up and put it out bit by bit for the council?

so almost new. I actually thought breaking it was a good idea but some of it is metal with that type of screws that are not removable (no, not an allen key LOL)

Will try to contact A**** but have heard really bad stories..
(will I get in trouble for saying where it was bought?)

If you got it new and have had it less than a year then (in the absence of abuse) it's the retailer's problem.

Have you contacted them? What do they say?

If you can't manage to fix it or get the supplier to replace it (and i think they should in such a short time ) Try putting it on Freecycle saying it may be repairable to anyone handy.

Sounds like you should try the small claims court if they still won't help.
