Morning Louj, I see ThriftySister has given you some excellent advice and links to other forums on here
What you can do, really does depend oin what you've already got cupboards and freezer. And how many you need to feed.
I'm in the lucky position that at the moment it's only me
But meal planning. and keeping to it, is vital.
List what food you have, and what meals you can make.
As you have most supermarkets within easy reach, try to get to their whoopsie time, and buy food when it really is on offer. Most stores make several reductions during the day, try to follow when they do it. Early afternoon it could be just 25% off, later it will go down to 50%, 75% and even 90% off
Make a shopping list when you go, and don't deviate from it unless it's whoopsies at a good price.
Homemade anything will be cheaper than shop bought meals. Pad the food out with other things. eg chilli, how much beef would you use? Could you use less beef, and add say. more kidney beans? Or serve less chilli and more rice?
Try serving up slightly smaller portions?
Do you have to have meat everyday?
Soups are cheap to make, and would use up leftover or whoopsied bread well. My Morrisons takes bread and rolls, down to 9p at their final reduction.
Jacket potatoes with variety of fillings?
Milk is cheap for the goodness it gives you. Consider ways to use up left overs, so if you like deserts, stale bread made into bread and butter pudding costs little. Home made rice pudding is very easy and very cheap.
What "treats" do you have?
Christmas is coming, so perhaps try this side of Christmas without treats? No chocolate/sweets, no bought cakes etc? Home made cakes will be cheaper and more filling?
Do you buy premium ranges eg Birds eye? Downgrade to stores own, or basics labels.
On my supermarket, you can ask for items to be listed in unit price, that would help you decide what to buy. Look at the shelf labels, most list the Kg or litre price of each item.
Recipes can be found in lots of places, but here's one:
http://www.netmums.com/family-food/guide-to-cooking-on-a-budget/cooking-on-a-budget
Just take each day, day by day. Keep a list of what you've bought and how much. Only buy what you really need. Don't be tempted by the WYS coupons. If you don't want to buy anything, it only makes you spend!
It's far easier, if you don't actually go into the shops, go, as you'll see something that'll catch your eye! So aim for a NoSpendingDay (NSD)
It won't necessarily fall into place this month, but you cam make a start
Marbett, lovely to see you again, good that you're reading the thread once more.
Rhosynbach, loved your French good morning for FC, and FC, hope the French teacher will get the correct message across to your DS!
And good morning to everyone

Good morning everyone!
Email this morning
"Dear Smart1e, we are sorry to hear you have still not received your LYB cards:(:( , with that in mind we have issued £(everything I paid for the cards) to your account, it will take 3-5 days"
:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j
The last time I emailed them about this they basically said screw you because the LYB cards were the only thing you actually paid for so we're not refunding you.
This was from the orders with the pamper packages back in August. I just looked and we got free handwashes with these too!
:T:T:T:T:T:T:T
So email them guys you never know!Learn from the past, enjoy and appreciate the present and work to make your future the best it can possibly be
And get lots of glitches!0 -
Morning all.
Hope everyone is ok
I'm enjoying the peace and quiet at the mo whilst little man is at nursery. Why is it that he can run around at the speed of light every minute of the day right until I ask him to do something then he suddenly doesn't know how to use his legs.
It shouldn't be so stressful to get a 3 year old up and out the door:rotfl: (little booger)

Been to T's to collect my C&C cheese orders, my fridge is now jam packed with not much space for anything else!
There are new Clubcard coupons available, might be worth checking your accounts, reports of some chocolate freebies, but none for me  :rotfl: I seem to remember not getting any last year either!Mr T
