Does anyone have any favourite sites they use for refurb lappys that they would like to share please?

  • Anyone get trouted on the nouvelle coupon? I only managed to get one on my email. I tried to claim a free pack this evening in Tesco and it was refused because there are loads of counterfeit coupons around. The trout took the coupon of me and when I said I wanted it back he warned me to never use it in a Tesco store again
  • No problem :) glad I can be of some help .

Can I point out to anyone buying any lightening deals that if you use any gift vouchers the promo price disappears and you get charged the original price. I'm just having a little word with customer services about it. Not impressed as they are fully aware of the problem.

I had this happen to me yesterday when I went to buy some Lightning deal RocketDog boots. I thought I'd done something wrong, so I just deleted from my basket and tried again. Second time lucky, I managed to buy the boots at the reduced price with my vouchers.
Obviously this isn't so useful if it's an item that's very popular and is taken up quickly, but it worked for me.

I was a bit disgruntled to see that the previous selling price they advertised on the BlackFriday deals page was significantly higher than the discount would suggest. (The figures were something like was £69.99 Now £30. I paid the £30, but the discount was only £9ish. This to me means it was £40 rather than the £69.99 advertised)Tsk Tsk.

The alert will have noticed a subtle change introduced with the Tvs S list I posted this afternoon.

Namely, I'm no longer referring to offers as BOGOFs but now deciding, following similar to MSE's own weekly emails, to call them BOGO"F"s instead. On the basis that something is only free, for our purposes, if it involves no cost whatsoever in order to obtain it. (The old section 11 Trade Descriptions Act approach rather than the BCAP Advertising Code approach perhaps:rotfl::rotfl:.)

As you have to "buy one" in order to get the 'price' on the other item, it can therefore not class as free of all costs whatsoever, and thus I'm now putting the free part in quotations as "it isn't really"! Not to mention that sometimes the cost of the individual items (which have been on offer) is doubled before a BOGO"F" goes on some times.

E.g. Ski Yoghurts - last week in T 84p each. Now £1.69 bogo"f". In other words now half a penny more expensive getting two (and having to get two now) this week than the one you could get last week. Anyway - as the individual price on all the items in the new offer is the same (obviously now £1.69 each not 84p each), only encourages me to buy more from A. So Mr T putting a bogo'f' on just means I buy twice as many from A! Particularly as I like the Dessert Lemon Cheesecake ones a great deal. Though whether I'm too happy about the 0.5p minus 10% price increase on them I don't know!:rotfl:

I shall stick pedantically to bogo"f" or b1g2"f" in future and, if I ever miss the quotes off in future, please feel free to pick me up on it!:T:T I'm not going to go back and alter previous ones that were posted as bogof, with or without capital letters and with or without the whole acronym capitalised, but the change applies from here on in.

    Thanks everyone!!:)

    So funny!:rotfl:

I would argue that the BOGO that precedes the F is performing the function of telling you that the F is really a "F" and therefore means it is unnecessary to use the ""s. The F isn't standing on its own but is attached to the BOGO with no spaces, hence telling you that the free is only free if you first buy one.

The same thing happens if you buy something with boots points that you would be entitled to 10% off if paying for it with cash.

I don't know if my German is not as good as I thought it was, but the way I read the delivery information there is no way you can order now and hope to receive it before February.... I believe it says...

"all pre-orders after 28 November 2013 will be delivered depending on the availability of goods after January 2014. If you pre-ordered between the 30th September and 28th November 2013, you will not receive it until after Christmas, but no later than the end of January 2014. Customers with a delivery address in Germany, pre-ordering up to and including 30 September 2013 will recieve, the products on the release date. We will inform you about your exact delivery date by e-mail and in your order summary."

I could be wrong of course, but that's how it reads to me."

    Thanks for this:T:T

I didn't want to delete it as I knew i may not get hold if it again. I tried going through checkout a few times but each time it took the voucher off the original price. I decided to just checkout with it as I didn't want to lose out. You would think 15 minutes is ages to check out but it bloody isn't when it's all going wrong lol.
Amazon are defo a bit naughty with their prices. Cheeky beggars
