Not informing the 2nd Job place about the first job

He is trying to have both the jobs. As the new working place will not allow employment if he has another job as he thinks the new employer will not hire due to he working too much and have not enough break between the jobs.
Nothing to do the Tax. Just want to work in both jobs and pay tax properly.0 -
Reason: He needs to keep the both jobs. But he cannot inform the new work place that he has another job as he thinks new place wont allow him employment due to the fact that he will be working too much hours and will not be fit to do second job.No he cant because it isn't his only job, he does have another job, even though he is on unpaid leave.
Why would he want to anyway,
The tax would sort itself out in the long run.0 -

do you mean his new job is for RM?
you can have a 2nd job in RM,however if this being fit relates to driving hours then its foolish to lie0 -
Hi,
One of his friend attended to the xmas temp job interview and since he had a full time job role the recruitment agent said there should be 10 hours break between the two jobs so he was not given that particular role.
For my friend both work places including the RM is about 10 mins drive from his home. Since RM work is contract - 4 months he cant afford to quit the present job as its a permanent role but less hourly waged than the RM job.
Thanks0 -
A friend of mine went for a Xmas postie job and nobody asked about the other one. He used to finish at about 2 and go straight on to the other job. The only problem arose when he had to work late at the RM job, which was quite often, also the shifts varied, so his other job had to be flexible so he could start late sometimes or change hours. Luckily it was.
It actually ended up that he was asked to stay on after Xmas and has now moved into a management post there some 2 years later!0 -
But if he's taking unpaid leave from his first job, he won't actually be at that job so the 'too many hours' issue isn't a problem, surely?
Why can he just not tell the second job that he's on unpaid leave from his first job?Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
He can have two jobs, or more if he has enough hours in the day. Unless there's a conflict of interest you don't usually have to tell one about the other. If both are PAYE jobs, the tax will be sorted out by the payroll dept, and there's a form that he will have to fill in with details of his other job and they will then allocate the tax code. If he doesn't give up the other job he won't have a p45 and this other form (wish I could remember what it's called, I have had so many!) will do instead.
Stuff here: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/incometax/starting-work.htm#3 about half way down the page is info on having more than one job.
I work at 5 jobs and tax works out fine though I do send in a self assessment each year to make sure. No reason why he can't work at several at the same time.
P46 is the form you're thinking of :-)0 -
He also may want to check job one rules about unpaid leave, we have career breaks available but are unable to take paid work whilst on unpaid leave.0

Under RMS driver checks. Drivers should be asked about other jobs with driving and sign to declare they do/dont have one with the hours. Every 6 months0 -
Can he speak to HMRC and ask them to do the tax code swap?
Yes he can. If he phones them they will change the codes over and send out notices of his tax codes to the employers. They did it for me over the phone. Not that I was lying about anything to either job but I needed the tax codes swapping over.0
